A complete, free Mexican Wave cocktail guide — coconut and citrus under a wave of electric blue, topped with lemon-lime soda. Built not shaken, so the colors stay in layers. Full recipe, measurements and method below — no login, no paywall.
Ingredients
- 60 ml (2 oz) coconut cream or coconut syrup
- 15 ml (½ oz) agave syrup
- 30 ml (1 oz) blue curaçao syrup (non-alcoholic)
- 90–120 ml (3–4 oz) lemon-lime soda, chilled
- Ice cubes, to fill the glass
- Garnish: 1 lime wheel + 1–2 maraschino cherries
Instructions
- Fill a Collins glass with ice.
- Pour in the coconut cream and agave syrup.
- Slowly add the blue curaçao syrup — let it sink rather than stir, so it builds a gradient of blue through the glass.
- Top with lemon-lime soda, filling almost to the rim.
- Give it one gentle stir — just enough to blend the top layer, not the whole drink.
- Garnish with the lime wheel and drop the cherry to the bottom.
With or without alcohol: as written, this recipe is completely alcohol-free — made
to be enjoyed anywhere, anytime, by anyone. Want the original boozy version instead? Add a 45 ml (1.5 oz)
shot of blanco tequila along with the coconut cream. Same wave, your call.
Notes: For extra tang, swap half the soda for sparkling water plus a splash of pineapple juice.
For a richer body, use more coconut cream. Looking for something with a tequila twist instead?
